Here is our match preview ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Arsenal including team news, expected line-ups and prediction

Mauricio Pochettino tottenham

Tottenham will be desperate to get their campaign back on track when they take on Arsenal in the North London Derby at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.

Spurs have seen their title challenge come unstuck after following-up their defeat at Burnley last weekend with a 2-0 loss at Chelsea on Wednesday night to leave them trailing leaders Liverpool by nine points.

Tottenham are now left looking over their shoulder as fourth-placed Arsenal moved to within four points of their rivals with a resounding 5-1 win over Bournemouth at the Emirates in midweek.

With Manchester United just one point behind the Gunners and Chelsea a further two points back, Tottenham are suddenly finding themselves in a battle to remain in the top four so they can’t afford to lose a third straight game tomorrow afternoon.

Victory for Arsenal would see them move to within just one point of Mauricio Pochettino’s men and blow the race for Champions League qualification wide open so it’s all to play for at Wembley this weekend.

Team news

Tottenham will hand a late fitness test to Jan Vertonghen after he missed the defeat at Chelsea with a hip injury. Harry Winks is also a doubt after picking up his own hip problem in midweek but both players are expected to feature.

Eric Dier is still unavailable after a bout of tonsillitis while Dele Alli remains out with a hamstring injury but Harry Kane is available for selection after escaping a retrospective ban for an apparent headbutt on Chelsea’s Cesar Azpilicueta.

Arsenal have been handed a boost as Laurent Koscielny is available after shaking off a minor knee injury that he sustained against Bournemouth while Stephan Lichtsteiner also returns from a back injury.

Mesut Ozil will be hoping to keep his place after an excellent display in midweek but Unai Emery has left him out of the big games recently and Alex Iwobi is pushing for a recall along with the fit again Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Granit Xhaka is expected to return after being rested against Bournemouth but Hector Bellerin, Danny Welbeck and Rob Holding remain out with long-term injuries.

Predicted score

Tottenham 2-2 Arsenal: Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4-2 at the Emirates and they come in to the game as the form team as Tottenham were poor against Chelsea and Burnley. However, Spurs have won five of the last seven home games against Arsenal and the away team have won just one of the last 16 league North London Derbies. These matches are usually highly entertaining so I expect goals but I’m going for a 2-2 draw.
