Managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads during the summer transfer window so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the globe. Here, Tottenham are expected to sign Ryan Sessegnon….
Tottenham are expected to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham this summer with Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier heading for the exit door, according to the Mirror.
Mauricio Pochettino has already splashed out on Jack Clarke but the young winger will be immediately loaned straight back to Leeds United for next season while midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has completed a club record move from Lyon.
However, Pochettino is keen to make further changes to his squad ahead of the new campaign and the Mirror says Rose and Trippier are likely to be sold over the coming weeks as the Tottenham boss revamps his options at full-back.
The newspaper claims Sessegnon has made it clear he has his heart set on joining Spurs and say the youngster is ‘highly likely’ to complete a move to White Hart Lane over the coming weeks after refusing to sign a new contract at Craven Cottage.
The 19-year-old has just one year left on his current deal so Fulham need to cash-in now while they can still command a sizable fee with The Sun claiming they are demanding around £45m for the versatile winger.
However, the report says Tottenham are hoping to secure a deal closer to £25m and with chairman Daniel Levy known to be a shrewd operator in the transfer market, you wouldn’t bet against Spurs driving the price down.
Sessegnon has been with Fulham his entire career having come through their youth system and he’s established himself as one of the most exciting teenagers in British football since breaking into the first team over the past three years.
The England U21 international made his name as an attacking left-back but he’s been used further forward over the past 12 months so his versatility will be a very useful asset if he does complete a move to Tottenham.
