Tottenham are leading the chase to sign Dani Olmo after opening talks with Dinamo Zagreb over a potential deal worth £27m for the highly-rated midfielder, according to AS.
Olmo was a product of the Barcelona youth academy before moving to Zagreb in 2015 where he’s developed into one of the hottest young prospects in European football having enjoyed a superb past 12 months.
The 21-year-old contributed 12 goals and 9 assists for Zagreb last season and he’s also made a name for himself on the international stage after scoring the winner for Spain during their Under-21 European Championship final win over Germany this summer.
His huge potential has led to interest from throughout Europe and AS claim Olmo is certain to join a bigger club this summer after catching the eye of Tottenham, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and AS Roma.
However, the Spanish publication says Spurs are in pole position to secure a deal after opening negotiations with Zagreb and they have maintained a good relationship with the Croatian giants having signed Luka Modric from them back in 2008.
AS claims Olmo is open to moving back to Spain but is ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing in the Premier League so Spurs are leading the chase to secure a deal that should be worth around £27m [€30m].
The report says the talented midfielder is in no rush to make a firm decision and is considering his options while on holiday but it seems Tottenham are currently the best placed club to secure his signature.
Mauricio Pochettino has already snapped-up Jack Clarke and Tanguy Ndombele this summer but the Spurs boss is keen to further strengthen his squad and a new midfielder is on the cards as Christian Eriksen has expressed his desire for a new challenge.

Olmo would be an exciting addition to the Tottenham squad if they were able to lure him to North London and £27m could prove to be a bargain for a player of his potential in today’s market.
