Sky Sports: Player determined to secure move after Tottenham table £55m bid
Giovani Lo Celso is determined to secure a move to north London after Tottenham tabled an improved £55.5m [€60m] bid for the Real Betis midfielder
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, Tottenham have made another offer for Giovani Lo Celso…
Giovani Lo Celso is determined to secure a move to north London after Tottenham tabled an improved £55.5m [€60m] bid for the Real Betis midfielder, according to Sky Sports.
Mauricio Pochettino is in the market for a creative midfielder before the window shuts on Thursday evening amid on-going doubts surrounding the future of Christian Eriksen at White Hart Lane.
The Danish international has just one year left on his contract and is keen to secure a move to Spain so Tottenham may be forced to cash-in this summer and Lo Celso has seemingly been identified as a replacement.
The 23-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Spurs throughout the summer but negotiations stalled last month when the two clubs failed to agree terms over a deal leading to Tottenham being linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.
However, it looks like talks are back underway as Sky Sports claims Tottenham have submitted an improved £55.5m [€60m] bid for Lo Celso and the midfielder is ‘intent’ on securing a move to the English capital.
The report doesn’t say whether Betis have responded to Tottenham’s latest offer yet but Sky Sports do suggest the La Liga club have been demanding a fee closer to £64.7m [€70m] so Spurs may have to dig a little deeper to get a deal agreed.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress but Lo Celso would be an exciting addition to Pochettino’s squad if Tottenham could get a deal done before the transfer window shuts at 5pm tomorrow.
The Argentinean international contributed 16 goals and 6 assists while on loan at Betis from Paris Saint-Germain last season which persuaded the Spaniard’s to active a £20m option to buy clause in April.

It looks like Betis are about to turn a quick profit on the midfielder if a deal can be agreed with Tottenham and Lo Celso would become Pochettino’s second big-money signing of the summer following the arrival of Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon.
