Tottenham agree £25m deal as Pochettino closes-in on double swoop
Tottenham have agreed a £25m deal to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham as Mauricio Pochettino closes-in on a big-money double swoop on deadline day
We’re now at the business end of the summer transfer window and managers are working hard trying to strengthen their squads so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip from around the world. Here, Tottenham are set to sign Ryan Sessegnon….
Tottenham have agreed a £25m deal to sign Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham as Mauricio Pochettino closes-in on a big-money double swoop on deadline day, according to the Independent.
Pochettino has been relatively quiet in the market as he’s only signed two players so far with Tanguy Ndombele arriving in a club record deal from Lyon while Jack Clarke was signed from Leeds United before being loaned back to Elland Road for this season.
However, Tottenham are expected to bring in two players on deadline day with Sessegnon and a creative midfielder the priorities and it looks as though one of those deals is on the verge of completion.
The Independent claims Spurs have now agreed terms with Fulham over a £25m deal to sign Sessegnon following talks between the two clubs on Tuesday and the the transfer will be completed on deadline day.
The newspaper says the 19-year-old is keen on joining Tottenham despite interest from other clubs and Spurs have offered young midfielder Josh Onomah to Fulham as part of the deal.
Onomah has struggled to make the breakthrough at White Hart Lane since coming through the youth system and it looks like the 22-year-old is set for a move to Craven Cottage having spent time out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Aston Villa.
We’ll have to wait and see how things progress over the coming hours but Sessegnon would be an exciting addition to Pochettino’s squad if Tottenham can get the deal over the line before the window shuts at 5pm on Thursday.
The England U21 international is seen as one of the most highly-rated youngsters in British football and the fact he can play at left-back or further forward down the left flank will appeal to Pochettino.
Sessegnon’s arrival could spell the end of Danny Rose’s time in north London as he’s been tipped to leave Tottenham after being left out of their pre-season tour squad last month having been told he’s free to find a new club this summer.

Tottenham are also looking to sign a creative midfielder on deadline day amid on-going doubts over the future of Christian Eriksen and the Independent says they’ve submitted an improved offer for Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.
So it looks as though Spurs are closing-in on two key signings on deadline day and Sessegnon and Lo Celso would be two superb pieces of business by the North Londoners if they can get the deals over the line tomorrow.
