Tottenham team news: Spurs confirm double injury blow ahead of Sheff Utd clash
Tottenham have confirmed a double injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
Tottenham will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Sheffield United in north London on Saturday afternoon.
Ahead of the game, the club have issued a team news and injury update on TottenhamHotspur.com which included the latest on the fitness of Erik Lamela, Jan Vertonghen and Hugo Lloris.
Lamela has missed Tottenham’s last three matches in all competitions due to a hamstring injury that he suffered during the draw with Watford earlier this month and the Argentinean international remains on the sidelines this weekend.
Vertonghen has also sat out the last two games against Red Star Belgrade and Everton due to his own hamstring complaint and Tottenham have confirmed the centre-back is still working his way back to full fitness so will miss the visit of Sheffield United tomorrow afternoon.
Skipper Lloris was forced to undergo further surgery on his dislocated elbow earlier this week so the goalkeeper remains on the sidelines and isn’t due back in full training until some point in January.
Otherwise, Mauricio Pochettino has no other injury concerns to worry about heading into the Sheffield United game. Ryan Sessegnon will be hoping to feature after making a successful recovery from a hamstring injury that’s hampered him since he joined Spurs in the summer.
Giovanni Lo Celso made an impressive full debut for Tottenham in midweek after overcoming his own injury concern and the Argentinean could be in-line for his first start in the Premier League this weekend.
Pochettino could look to freshen things up with Toby Alderweireld, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies, Christian Eriksen and Lucas Moura all pushing for recalls after not starting against Red Star Belgrade in midweek.
