Preview: Liverpool backed to extend their lead with win over Watford

Liverpool can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table with victory over Watford at Anfield on Saturday lunchtime.

The Reds have enjoyed a sensational season so far as they stretched their unbeaten run in the league to 16 games [W15 D1] with a comfortable 3-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last weekend.

That victory ensured Liverpool remain eight points ahead of second-placed Leicester City and a whopping 14 points clear of defending champions Manchester City heading into this weekends action.

With City facing a tough trip to Arsenal on Sunday and Leicester hosting Norwich on Saturday afternoon, Liverpool have the chance to extend their advantage with another win over lowly Watford in tomorrow’s 12.30pm kick off.

The Hornets head to Anfield sitting rock bottom of the Premier League table on just nine points having won just one game all season so Liverpool are fully expected to put them to the sword this weekend.

Lovren out

However, Liverpool have been dealt a blow with the news that Dejan Lovren has been ruled out of the game with a muscle injury while Joel Matip also remains on the sidelines with a knee problem so Joe Gomez will start in defence.

Fabinho is still working his way back from an ankle ligament injury and Adam Lallana is a doubt with a muscle issue but Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Divock Origi are options if Klopp wants to freshen things up.

Comfortable win

According to betting sites, Liverpool are the heavy favourites to win the game tomorrow with the Reds available at odds of 1/6. The draw can be backed at 7/1 while you can get 20/1 on a Watford win if you fancy a shock result at Anfield.

However, Liverpool are in formidable form right now and Watford are really struggling so I can’t see past a comfortable home win. The Merseysiders have a long unbeaten record at Anfield and I really don’t see a struggling Watford side threatening that run.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Liverpool rack up a big win tomorrow and 4-0 is available at odds of 9/1 while I also like the look of Sadio Mane to score first at odds of 16/5.
