Arsenal suffered a day to forget at the Emirates going down 0-2 to Liverpool. The Gunners got an early blow when Laurent Koscielny was forced off after just 15 minutes with back problems, and it got even worse when debutant Emmanuel Frimpong was sent off for 2 bookable offences midway through the second half with the score still at 0-0. The combative midfielder will now be suspended for the game at Old Trafford next weekend.
Liverpool made Arsenal pay and went ahead with a fortuitous goal. Suarez was played in seemingly in an offside position but the ref waved play on and as he put Miquel under pressure his clearance bounced off the chest of Aaron Ramsey and over the head of the Arsenal goalkeeper to put the visitors ahead.
