Sakho “Not Interested In Arsenal”
By Fab4.
The agent of reported Arsenal target Mamadou Sakho has denied speculation that his client is set for a move to England this summer. The 20-year-old PSG defender has been linked with a move to Arsenal as well as Chelsea and Newcastle in recent seasons, but it now seems he wants a move to Germany.
Sakho has been suggested as a possible replacement for William Gallas who is yet to agree a contract extension at the Gunners, and Arsene Wenger is thought to be a keen admirer of the 6ft 2″ French centre back.
However, when asked about recent reports linking Sakho with Arsenal, his agent Werner Baader said:
“He is not interested in Arsenal, and there is no interest from them. Sakho is not interested in moving to England this summer, so there will be no move to Arsenal.“At this moment he wants to go to a German club. I cannot say anymore on the subject.”
The latest round of speculation came after the player himself admitted only yesterday that a number of Europes top clubs were interested in him and he was going to consider his future at PSG this summer.
“My agents have received requests from foreign clubs which they must analyse with PSG. I do not know if I’ll stay, I must feel we can make progress next season.”
Many Arsenal fans will be gutted to hear that not only is our reported interest inaccurate, but Sakho wouldn’t want the move anyway. What’s even more surprising is Sakho’s apparent desire to play in Germany above England, Spain or even Italy. It’s not often these days that you hear of a sought-after future star choosing to play in the Bundesliga over the Premier League or La Liga.
So it looks like Arsenal will have to keep searching for a new centre back and we can rule out Sakho as that big, strong, and dominant player we all crave.
