Chelsea Braced For Russian Bidding War
Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka is a target for Russian league club Terek Grozny, according to reports.
Speculation recently has linked the Frenchman to Grozny who sacked Ruud Gullit in the summer after a poor start to the season. Anelka, 32, is out of contract in June meaning he is free to talk with interested parties in January.
Terek are thought to be lining up a contract offer for Anelka, who had previously been linked with a move to America’s MLS when his deal expires, but he has also been linked with Terek’s rivals Anzhi Makhachkala who boast one of the richest owners in professional football.
Anzhi snapped up Cameroon superstar Samuel Eto’o in the summer with the striker thought to be earning up to £330,000 a week, so a bidding war could ensue between the Russian big-spending rivals.
