England star Rio Ferdinand out of World Cup
By Dan Smith.
In the first England training session for the 2010 World Cup, England Captain Rio Ferdinand has been ruled out of the World Cup following a tackle with Emile Heskey in which he has injured his left knee.
No news on how severe the injury is have been revealed but it will be a massive blow for Ferdinand and England who was seen leaving the hospital on crutches earlier today.
Michael Dawson is expected to fly out to South Africa in the next 12 hours to replace the injured Manchester United defender.
The news that Ferdinand will not be able to take part will give England boss Capello a major selection headache ahead of the first game against the USA.
Should he go with King, Upson or Dawson?
