Tottenham Transfer News: Zarate Deal Unlikely Despite Players Interest
Tottenham Hotspur have failed in their attempts to bring Lazio striker Mauro Zarate to White Hart Lane on loan this month, according to Sky Sports News.
Tottenham have failed in their attempts to bring Mauro Zarate to White Hart Lane this month, according to Sky Sports News.
Sky Sports claim that Spurs were looking to sign the 24-year-old on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal in the summer.
However, the players representative Barry McIntosh is quoted as saying that while the striker would be keen on moving to Spurs, he would only be interested if it was a permanent switch:
“It does not look like happening,” he told Sky Sports.
“He is flattered by Spurs’ interest and would clearly love to have moved to Tottenham.
“But there was no question he would move on loan, he always wanted a permanent switch so at the moment nothing will happen with that.”
Zarate is owned by Lazio but is currently on loan at Inter Milan where he has failed to score in 12 league appearances so far this term. Sky Sports claim the player is valued at more than £15m by the Italians but Tottenham aren’t interested in doing a permanent deal at this stage.
