Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Wants £55m German Pair

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could finally be set to splash some cash this summer, after the Daily Mail reported that the Frenchman is lining up a £55m double swoop for Lukas Podolski and Mario Gotze.
The report claims that Wenger will look to end Arsenal’s seven year wait for a trophy by freshening up his squad this summer and has identified the German pair, but his plans could depend on whether we qualify for the Champions League next season or not.
Personally i’d love to see these two in the Red & White next season. Podolski is a versatile 26-year-old with can play out wide or up front and has vast experience having already assessed 95 caps for Germany, scoring 45 goals in the process. He would certainly add some much-needed depth and quality to our attacking options.
Gotze is no doubt a huge talent and to sign him would be a real coup for Arsenal. We saw just how good the 19-year-old is when we played Dortmund in the group stages of the Champions League and he would add some creativity to a stale-looked central midfield.
Will it happen? Well, it’s a little early for transfer rumours really and usually i’d just dismiss this as pure speculation but the original article came from German source Bild, so perhaps they know something we don’t. I’m still sceptical on whether Wenger would spend such an amount though.
Would you like to see these two at Arsenal? Do you think Wenger will spend this summer?
