Sunderland vs Tottenham: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted score
Tottenham face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday looking to move clear of Arsenal. Here’s team news, likely line-ups & predicted score for the game
Tottenham travel north to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday looking to go three points clear of rivals Arsenal.
Spurs moved level on points with the Gunners after beating Swansea 3-1 last weekend, with Harry Redknapp’s side now only fourth on goal difference.
Victory on Saturday would move Tottenham clear of their North London rivals, with Arsenal not playing until Sunday when they host Man City at the Emirates.
However, Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland will prove stiff opposition and they proved how dangerous they can be after becoming the first side to take a point from the Etihad Stadium this season with a 3-3 draw with City last weekend.
Team News
Wes Brown is still on the sidelines with a knee injury, while John O’Shea is also out with a calf problem. Black Cats captain Lee Catermole is likely to play despite a knee concern and Wayne Bridge could come back in after missing last weeks game with City due to the terms of his loan agreement.
Harry Redknapp could be in line for a major boost with winger Aaron Lennon returning to full fitness after a month out. Ledley King is also likely to return after missing the Swansea win.
Spurs will continue to be without long term injury victims Michael Dawson, Heurelho Gomes, David Bentley and Tom Huddlestone.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham returned to form last week after five games without a win, so should be full of confidence going to the Stadium of Light. But so too will Sunderland after an impressive display against Man City and boast an excellent home record under Martin O’Neil, winning six and losing just one of eight games. Spurs have not won on the road during any of their last six games, losing three. So given these stats it’s clearly going to be a difficult afternoon for Harry Redknapp’s men and we can see them dropping points. Sunderland 1-1 Tottenham.
