Porto striker Hulk is ready to submit a transfer request to help force through a move to Chelsea, according to the Times.

The Brazilian striker is thought to be the Blues No.1 target to replace Didier Drogba but the champions league winners are struggling to agree a fee with Porto.

The Times report that Hulk’s agent has already held talks with Chelsea officials and agreed personal terms, and the only thing holding up the move is Porto’s valuation of the player.

The 25-year-old is believed to have an £80m buy-out clause in his contract but Porto are willing to do business at around £40m. Chelsea have so far refused to go beyond £30m and if the Portuguese side don’t budge, the Times claim the striker is willing to submit a transfer request and forgo loyalty payments to try and ensure a deal is reached.

Hulk became a target for Chelsea last summer when former Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas identified him as a potential signing after taking over the Stamford Bridge hot-seat. However, despite AVB’s exit from the club, Chelsea’s interest in Hulk remains and it’s thought the Blues plan to play him alongside Juan Mata and Fernando Torres in a new-look attack next season.
