Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Linked With £6m Bid For Midfielder

Arsenal have been linked with a £6m bid for a giant midfield enforcer with Premier League experience. Find out who the mystery player is here on Football Talk.

With the summer transfer window almost open, we’ll keep you up to date with the latest transfer news. Today sees Arsenal linked with a £6m bid for a Blackburn Rovers midfielder.

Arsenal will make an opening bid of £6m for Blackburn midfielder Steven N’Zonzi, if reports in the Mirror are to be believed.

The report claims that Arsene Wenger is keen to strengthen his squad this summer and add to the signing of Lukas Podolski. Midfield is believed to be an area of concern for Wenger and N’Zonzi is on a three-man wish-list that also includes Javi Martinez of Athletic Bilbao, and Rennes’ Yann M’Vila.

Both Martinez and M’Vila would cost a lot more than N’Zonzi, and the Mirror say that the Gunners have already made enquiries to Rovers regarding the giant midfielder. The 23-year-old impressed for Blackburn last season, despite their relegation from the Premier League, and his power and physical presence is understood to appeal to Wenger.

The French under 21 international has three years remaining on his contract but is keen for a move back to the Premier League and Arsenal are ready to test Rovers resolve with a £6m bid.

At 6ft 4 inches, there is no doubt N’Zonzi would add a presence to Arsenal’s midfield that many say has been lacking in recent years and there will be the obvious comparisons made with Patrick Vieira, should he move to the Emirates.

I’d be a little underwhelmed if we got N’Zonzi after being strongly linked with the likes of M’Vila and Martinez, but who would be surprised if Arsene turned his attention away from those expensive targets in favour of the more economically friendly N’Zonzi?

These rumours and speculation getting circular and nowhere. Its quite simple. If we signed Vermogens, m’ Vila, Dempsey , ground and maybe leighton Baines, and signed them quickly, plus keep van persie, we have a squad capable of competing for everything next season. This is not a mega ask for a club our size charging what it does, and these purchases could be more than funded out og sales of non core players plus unused surplus from fabregas, nasri and cliche sales. But it won’t happy coz gazidis is out of his depth and winger has lost a winning mentality.

If wenger bought n’zonzi, simply because he’s cheaper, then I’m afraid I just might be cheering Westham come next season. Crap!

If N’Zonzi is the standard we are going for then we are going backwards. Ffs Song is bad enough.

totally agree with you , nzonzi is nowhere good enough & neither is song. I would take young hoillet though he has potential & would be cheap just how wenger like em!

Funny that he’s only worth 6 million yet is deemed good enough to get in Arsenals midfield. Ha ha ha get yer money out wenger yer tightwad, you offered 6 mill for him last year. Yer gonna miss out again like you did with cahill when you ended up with mertsishitter. Cahill now has champions league winners medal in first season and you wenger have diddly, just like the last seven years. Nzonzi will be as good if not better than Vierra if he isn’t already. So get yer cash out.

N’Zonzi isn’t that bad,, but if we was looking in the Premiership for a midfield enforcer, i’d rather take Fellani, Hoillet, and Dempsey will be good additions

opting for n’zonzi signals to the man we are trying to show we are ambitious just shows we are not! if we get n’zonzi we will not buy m’vila. so incredibly bored of supporting a club who are happy to finish fourth by spending the bare minimum, whilst charging extorinate rates to go and watch these cheaper options play and ever increasingly lose! am not enjoying being raped with no lube!
