Wenger Prepared To Sell RVP As Fresh Talks Due This Week

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to sell star striker Robin van Persie if he fails to persuade his captain to sign a new contract at the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is prepared to sell Robin van Persie if he fails to persuade his captain to sign a new contract at the Emirates, according to the Daily Mail.

The report claims that Wenger has told club officials he wants the situation regarding Van Persie resolved quickly, even if it means he has to sell the 28-year-old this summer.

The Frenchman is still keen to keep hold of the striker and will hold face-to-face talks with his skipper this week in a bid to try and persuade him to sign a new contract with the club. However, if Van Persie refuses to do so, Wenger will sanction a quick sale rather than let the saga drag on.

The Mail believe Wenger would rather have the situation sorted quickly so he can have the funds, as well as the time, to reinvest in his squad and avoid a repeat of the scenario last summer, when he lost Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri towards the end of the transfer window.

This left Wenger with just over 2 weeks to spend the money raised and was later criticised for so-called ‘panic buying’.

The Gunners are expecting both Manchester City and Manchester United to make their interest official before the week is out, while they also expect Italian giants Juventus to come in with a second offer.

Should they sell this summer, the Mail believe the Londoners are looking for £30m for the 30-goal striker but at nearly 29-years-old, a poor injury record and the fact he has only 12 months remaining on his contract means they may only get around £20m.

Arsenal are already preparing for RVP’s exit and club scouts have already met to discuss potential replacements, with the likes of Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic and Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski under consideration.

Just sell and get the best price for him but try and send him away – Italy will do.Has his agent been playing ‘chicken’to see if AFC will break the bank to keep RVP? Who knows, we may never find out,but I say, we’ve had 1 great season out of 8 from him – thanks for the wonderful memories and we move on.I’m not sure why we seem to loose our best players every year but no ONE player is bigger than the club so let’s get on with the deal!

we have had enough of sagas already ,Fab,samir ,clichy, and now RvP not forgetting the speedster(walcott) also lingering in the background. When is this kinda bizarre attitude ever going to stop in the camp of Arsenal.Should this frustration carry on, I really don’t think wenger’s dream of developing young talent for himself and the club will ever work. The board must find a way to make our beloved club attractive that players will love to join and not wanting to move out …

He’s making a right decision. He must leave already otherwise he will not win any thing with arsenal honestly. Beside he’s aging up.

let him go if he wants and get players in who will accept the set up at arsenal in terms of transfer activities and investment.
Id play for free given the chance but sadly the years have got to me and the love of food!
Money is the dictator of all football matters these days and there is no loyalty. Mr RVP has made it clear so ship him out, get some money and spend wisely. lets get the season underway in a positive way.

I really pity all you gooner fans that are lashing at Van Persie. Come to think of it… Ramsey Loves Arsenal and want to stay and improve, yet many says he is shit, sell him and stuffs. If Ramsey was to improve this next season and see Arsenal fans as in-greats and desire to leave, then you fans will start talking of loyalty which does not exist with you (fans) in the first place. I hear talks like Diaby is injury prone, chamack is deadwood, even when they love the club please sell sell sell etc. now do you blame Bendtner for wanting to leave? Or have yo fans forgotten so soon, while Van Persie was always injured, didn’t you guys clamor for his sales then? How come you guys all of a sudden becomes the loyal fans and Van Persie is not loyal? Is it not the same fans like you writing comments about that were booing our Genius Manager…? before any one talk to Van Persie take a closer look at your selves. A word

Arsenal fans should learn to give their own players a break. We should be proud of our club. I know the frustration of all you fans, its the lack of trophies. But venting the anger on your players will not resolve the issue. We should be supporting who ever Arsenal deems fit enough to line up week-in week-out. Stop the bitching and the squirming about this that is shit. And more importantly, please give Van Persie a break. If he wishes to go goodluck, if he wishes to stay all the best. There is no need for us jumping the gun. I think the choice is his’ unless we want to force our best player out of emirates of course.
