Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a €16m bid for CSKA Moscow star Alan Dzagoev, according to LifeSports.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was in scintillating form for Russia in the recently concluded Euro 2012 championships, scoring 3 goals in 3 games. He has long be touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Europe and finally it seems that he is coming of age.
Dzagoev has been linked with a move to Arsenal in the past but it seems like their North London rivals have stolen a march on them. With Luka Modric likely to be on his way to Real Madrid, Andre Villas-Boas is said to be on the look-out for a play-maker, with Dzagoev under serious consideration.
However, CSKA Moscow is unlikely to let go of their star player cheaply. It is believed that the Russian club won’t budge for anything less than €26m, but Dzagoev has expressed his desire to play in a top league in the past.
The 22-year-old’s father Tariel Dzagoev has recently said in an interview (reported by Daily Mail):
‘I don’t know if he will stay at CSKA. There are offers – from Spurs and other foreign clubs. But I tell him not to hurry. Yury Zhirkov ran off to Chelsea and sat on the bench.’
Despite such caution, in all likelihood CSKA Moscow will listen to offers which match their valuation of the player. This move depends on the future of Luka Modric, and in Dzagoev Spurs can have someone who can step into the shoes of the Croatian with ease.
