With the summer transfer window in full swing, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, Robin van Persie wants to move to Man Utd.
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has told Juventus he will not be joining them this summer and his first choice is now Manchester United, according to talkSPORT.
Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri told talkSPORT exclusively on Thursday evening that van Persie’s representatives have called Juve officials to inform them of his decision out of courtosey after weeks of negotiations with the Italians.
It was claimed that the Dutchman had initially told Juve he was keen on a move to Turin after being shown around the clubs facilities last month. However, the main stumbling block over any deal has always been money, with the Serie A champions unable to match the fee or wages Man Utd and Man City are able to offer.
Palmeri claims that van Persie has now ruled out a move to Juventus after telling them his preferred destination is now Old Trafford, and while a deal is yet to be agreed with the deposed Premier League champions, talks are already underway with Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.
After what is undoubtably the transfer-saga of the summer, van Persie looks like he’s edging towards a move to United. Juventus look like they are out the running and Roberto Mancini claimed he didn’t think the striker would join City, leaving United as clear favourites to land the 30-goal hitman.
