Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Joao Moutinho is back on Tottenham’s radar.
Tottenham are set to revive interest in Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho in January after the player praised boss Andre Villas-Boas, according to Sky Sports News.
The 25-year-old was on the verge of sealing a move to White Hart Lane this summer after a £22m fee was agreed between the two clubs, only for the deal to collapse in the final hours on transfer deadline day.
Sky Sports report that Spurs will revive their interest in the Portuguese play-maker when the January window opens, and Moutinho has taken time to praise Andre Villas-Boas describing him as one of the best coaches in Europe.
The Porto ace also admitted he was flattered by Tottenham’s interest in him but claims he is only focused on doing his best for Porto until his situation changes.
“Tottenham is not in my head now, although I was flattered by the interest, especially by the coach. Andre Villas-Boas is one of the best coaches in Europe today.
“The transfer window is closed but now I am focused on Porto and prefer not to talk about something which may or may not happen.
“Porto is a club which offers maximum stability to help me show my best level.
“I cannot talk about anything else until that changes.”
Moutinho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports
