Tottenham vs Stoke Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Tottenham welcome Stoke to White Hart Lane on Saturday looking to cement their top-four place. Here’s a preview, team news, likely line-ups and predicted score.
Tottenham Hotspur welcome Stoke City to White Hart Lane on Saturday looking to cement their place in the top four.
Spurs have moved into fourth – level on points with third-placed Chelsea – after four wins in five games and will be hoping to put the pressure on the Blues, who don’t play until Sunday.
However, Stoke arrive at the Lane in excellent form and are on a seven-game unbeaten run. If Tony Pulis can secure all three points this weekend it will move the Potters to within two points of Tottenham, proving just how tight it is at the top half of the table.
Stoke have the meanest defence in the Premier League having conceded just 13 goals so far but scoring goals has been a problem, particularly on their travels, so we could be in for a low-scoring affair this weekend.
Team News
Tottenham have been handed a huge boost with the news that Gareth Bale has recovered from a hamstring injury and is expected to start.
Scott Parker is also in contention after continuing his comeback from injury with an appearance for the U21’s on Monday, but may have to make-do with a place on the bench this weekend. Left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto is also pushing for a recall after recovering from a knee complaint and will be given every chance to prove his fitness.
Emmanuel Adebayor will also face a late test on a hamstring injury but is expected to feature, but Younes Kaboul and Michael Dawson are still out.
Stoke’s Charlie Adam is unlikely to play after being granted compassionate leave due to the death of his father. Ryan Shotton is back from a one-match ban but Pulis is likely to stick with Andy Wilkinson at right back.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham have won their last three home games but will face a tough test in Stoke City. Tony Pulis men are well organised and work hard, meaning they are extremely difficult to beat, but Spurs have a lot of threat going forward and we can see the home side edging this one. Tottenham 1-0 Stoke.
