Chelsea Line-up Mega Cash Plus Player Swap Deal In Bid To Finally Land Falcao
European champions Chelsea are lining up a £47m cash-plus-player deal to try and finally land Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, according to the Metro.
Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on Chelsea’s pursuit of Radamel Falcao.
Chelsea are lining up a £47m cash-plus-player deal to try and finally land Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, according to the Metro.
The European champions have long been linked with a move for the Columbian hitman but have so far been unable to lure him to west London. However, the Metro claim Chelsea are lining up a deal to try and finally land the player that would include £47m in cash plus highly-rated goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
20-year-old Courtois is currently enjoying his second successful year on loan with Atletico and has been hugely impressive during his time in Spain. He was a key member of the team that lifted the Europa League last season and has played in 19 La Liga matches this year helping Atletico above rivals Real Madrid into second in the table.
The Metro claim that while the Belgian keeper been touted as the long-term successor to Petr Cech at Stamford Bridge, the club are willing to sacrifice him if it means landing Falcao in the summer and are hopeful the cash-plus-player package will ensure they beat off the competition at the end of the season.

Falcao has continued his stunning goal-scoring record this campaign with 22 goals in just 21 appearances, taking his total to 59 goals in just 71 games for Atletico. Those figures dwarf those of current Chelsea front-man Fernando Torres who’s only managed 27 goals in 108 appearances since joining Chelsea from Liverpool in 2010, so it’s easy to see why the Blues are understood to be willing to go that extra mile to sign Falcao.
