Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted to the news that Aurelien Chedjou has declared his intention is to leave Lille in the summer to join a top European club
Despite the transfer window now being closed there will still be plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Aurelien Chedjou declares he wants to leave Lille in the summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted to the news that Aurelien Chedjou has declared his intention is to leave Lille in the summer to join a ‘top European club’, according to talkSPORT.
The Cameroon international joined Lille from Rouen FC in 2007 and has gone on to make nearly 200 appearances for the club. He has been one of the most consistent centre-backs in Ligue 1 over the last few years and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed in England, with talkSPORT claiming Arsenal and Liverpool are among his long-term admirers.
The Premier League duo have now been alerted to the news that the 27-year-old is aware of the interest being shown in him and he’s ready to end his six-year stint at Lille at the end of the season to join a top European club. Chedjou is quoted as saying by talkSPORT:
“It seems to me that I’ve had a rather good season,”
“There are people who have been scouting me – my agents have told me about it.
“And most importantly, after six years here, a cycle is coming to an end. I am one of the pieces of furniture in the dressing-room here. I feel ready to join one of the top European clubs.”

Arsenal’s defence was once again exposed during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham so it would be no surprise if Arsene Wenger was to dip into the transfer market for another centre-back in the summer, while Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is likely to be on the look-out for a replacement for Jamie Carragher, who’s set to retire at the end of the season, so Chedjou’s admission may be of interest to both managers.
