Arsene Wenger To Raid Man City?
Arsenal are lining up a move for out-of-favour Manchester City dfefender Micah Richards as a replacement for the outgoing Bacary Sagna, according to reports.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Arsenal are linked with Micah Richards.
Arsenal are lining up a move for out-of-favour Manchester City defender Micah Richards as a replacement for the outgoing Bacary Sagna, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims Sagna is set to leave the Emirates this summer in favour of a move back to France after failing to agree terms over a new contract leaving Arsene Wenger with a hole to fill in his squad and it’s understood Richards is under consideration.
The 24-year-old defender, who can play right-back or central defence, has seen his season hampered by a serious knee injury and has fallen behind Pablo Zabaleta in Roberto Mancini’s pecking order.
The Mail claim City are planning a summer clear-out with Mancini, chief executive Ferran Soriano and sporting director Txiki Begiristain holding talks over the clubs summer plans, with Richards joining the likes of Maicon, Wayne Bridge and Scott Sinclair as those who’re likely to be shown the exit door at the end of the season.
It’s suggested by the newspaper that Arsenal may look to try and lure the former England international to north London with the promise of more first team opportunities, with Richards said to have one-eye on forcing his way into Roy Hodgson’s plans for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

I must admit I used to be a huge fan of Micah Richards but his progress seems to have stalled in recent years. Much of that may be down to his injury problems so if he can return to full fitness I think he could be an astute buy if we can pull this one off.
I’ve said before that if Sagna does leave this summer I’d like to see someone come in to push Carl Jenkinson for the first team jersey, as I’m not convinced Jenko is quiet ready just yet, and we could do a lot worse than Richards. His versatility would also be an asset as he could cover in the middle of defence if required.
