Ghana Winger Keen On Spurs Move As AVB Eyes Cut-Price Deal
Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Vilas-Boas is set to renew his interest in Christian Atsu and hopes to seal a cut-price deal for the Porto winger this summer.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham eye Christian Atsu.
Tottenham boss Andre Vilas-Boas is set to renew his interest in Christian Atsu with the Porto winger keen on a move to White Hart Lane this summer, according to the Mirror.
AVB handed Atsu his Porto debut during his time in Portugal and the report claims the Spurs boss tried to sign him last summer but was put off by his £12 million valuation.
However, the 20-year-old Ghana international will only have one year left on his current contract at the end of the season and the newspaper claims the player will refuse to sign an extension as he wants to move to the Premier League to link up with Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane.
If no deal is agreed, Atsu could be available on the cheap if Porto decide to cash in this summer rather than risk losing him for a minimal fee 12 months later.
The Mirror suggest Tottenham will renew their interest with Villas-Boas keen to add to his attacking options this summer but the north Londoners may face stiff competition from Everton and Sunderland – who’re also believed to be keeping a close eye on the exciting youngster.

Atsu has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents in Portugal and has also broken into the senior Ghana national team, earning 13 caps so far. He would certainly be a welcome addition to Tottenham’s attacking options with the top-four chasing Londoners left exposed during the second half of the season following injuries to Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon.
