Tottenham needed a late strike from Gareth Bale to secure a 1-0 win over Southampton at White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon to move above Arsenal into fourth in the league.
The visitors had some good chances to take the lead in the first half but Hugo Lloris kept Spurs in it. The hosts were below par and struggling to create clear cut chances until that man Bale stepped up to fire home from 25 yards to secure a vital three points for the Londoners.
