Chelsea Set To Beat Liverpool To Turkish Attacker By Triggering £20m Release Clause
Chelsea are set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Atletico Madrid attacker Arda Turan with Roman Abramovich ready to trigger his £20m release clause this summer
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea close on Arda Turan.
Chelsea are set to beat Liverpool to the signing of Atletico Madrid attacker Arda Turan with Roman Abramovich ready to trigger his £20m release clause this summer, according to the Express.
The report claims Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on the Turkish winger in recent months but Brendan Rodgers has failed to firm up his interest with a formal move as yet.
It appears Chelsea are ready to capatalise on their rivals hesitation by pushing ahead with a move of their own, with the Express suggesting owner Roman Abramovich is set to sanction a £20m bid that would be enough to trigger the 26-year-old’s release clause.
Turan has been in excellent form for Atletico since making the move to the Vicente Calderon Stadium from Galatasaray in 2011. He has plenty of experience in the Champions League and international stage, representing Turkey at every youth level and already has 64 senior caps to his name.
If he makes the move to Stamford Bridge he will provide extra depth in attack but will have to work hard to cement himself in the starting eleven, with Eden Hazard, Oscar and Juan Mata all impressing this season.
