Spurs Line-Up £36m Double Swoop
Tottenham Hotspur plan to splash around £36million on long-term target Leandro Damiao and Spain striker Roberto Soldado this summer, according to the Guardian.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with a £36m double swoop.
Tottenham Hotspur plan to splash around £36m on long-term target Leandro Damiao and Spain striker Roberto Soldado this summer, according to the Guardian.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas pleaded with the club to be ambitious in the transfer market this summer after narrowly missing out on a top four finish and it seems chairman Daniel Levy is ready to back his boss by opening the cheque book to add two top drawer strikers to the squad.
The report claims Spurs will renew their interest in Internacional’s Damiao after coming close to signing the 23-year-old in January with the Brazilian clubs president Giovanni Luigi recently admitting that they had opened talks with the north London club over the £16m-rated striker.
The Guardian suggests AVB wants to pair the Damiao with Valencia hitman Soldado up front next year and has had scouts watch the 27-year-old on several occasions this season. They would have been impressed with his form as he bagged 27 goals in all competitions, and should Valencia miss out on qualification to the Champions League he could be made available for around £20m.
The newspaper claims to make room for the two new signings, Spurs will look to ease the wage bill by offloading Emmanuel Adebayor, Scott Parker and Tom Huddleston, while William Gallas will leave the club on a free transfer.
Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor only managed 16 league goals between them last season and Spurs still managed to push Arsenal all the way, so the addition of two proven goal-scorers will surely propel Tottenham into serious top-four challengers next season.
