Tottenham Transfer News: Spurs Eye £32m-Rated Midfield Duo
Latest Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumours. Today, Spurs are linked with moves for Brazilian duo Bernard and Paulinho who’ve got a combined value of £32million.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Tottenham are linked with moves for Brazilian duo Bernard and Paulinho.
Spurs eye Bernard
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur will be keeping a close eye on Atletico Mineiro attacking midfielder Bernard when he represents Brazil at the Confederations Cup this weekend ahead of a potential summer bid.
The report claims the 20-year-old is in the squad to face Japan on Saturday night and he’ll get the opportunity to convince Spurs to outbid Borussia Dortmund for his signature with the Champions League finalists believed to be keen on taking him to Germany.
The Mirror suggest boss Andre Villas-Boas is keen to add to his attacking options this summer and is determined to lure Bernard to north London, and a positive showing this weekend may persuade chairman Daniel Levy to stump up the £15m Atletico Mineiro want for the exciting youngster.
AVB switches attention to Paulinho
Next and the Daily Mail claim that Tottenham have made a move for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho after failing to agree a deal to sign Inter Milan ace Fredy Guarin.
The 24-year-old currently plays for Corinthians but the report suggests he’s likely to move on this summer and has been linked with a move to Spurs, Inter Milan and Shakhtar Donetsk after previously being tipped for a move to Chelsea in January.
Paulinho scored the equaliser against England earlier this month but is predominantly known for his defensive attributes in the middle of the park and with Scott Parker expected to leave White Hart Lane this summer, a gap needs to be filled in that area.
However, the Mail claim that it will take a bid of £17m to land the talented Samba star with Cornthians understood to be holding out for the full buy-out clause figure written into the players contract.
So there’s your latest dose of Tottenham transfer news. It’s certainly an exciting installment with Spurs being linked with £32m worth of Brazilian talent, but if they do manage to strike any deals for the pair they may have to wait a while to complete the transfers with the Confederations Cup due to run until the end of June.
