With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign wonderkid Jacob Maddox and Tottenham are linked with four players.
Blues agree Maddox deal
First up and the Daily Mail are reporting that Chelsea have won the race to land highly-rated teenager Jacob Maddox after the 14-year-old agreed a four-year deal to move to Stamford Bridge.
Maddox has emerged as one of the hottest young properties in England after representing Bristol City’s Under-18’s team despite being just 14, and the club had hoped he would continue his development at Ashton Gate despite interest from several top flight teams.
However, the Mail claim that Europa League winners Chelsea have won the race and persuaded Maddox to make the switch to west London with the player understood to have agreed a four-year deal with the Blues – who will now have to pay Bristol City compensation for his signature.
Spurs eye quartet
Next up and the Mirror are reporting that Andre Villas-Boas is ready to snub interest from PSG as long as Tottenham back him in the transfer market with the Portuguese identifying a number of players he’d like to sign this summer.
The report claims that big-spending PSG are willing to meet AVB’s £10m release clause to make him Carlo Ancelotti’s successor but the former Porto boss is willing to turn down the move if chairman Daniel Levy backs him with the funds to sign the players he wants.
The newspaper suggests AVB is looking to re-shape his strike-force by selling Emmanuel Adebayor to Fenerbache for £10m and use the money to sign Barcelona’s David Villa, while Brazilian hitman Leandro Damiao is also said to be top target for the north Londoners as they look to sign at least two new strikers this summer.
According to the Mirror, Spurs are also closing in on the signing of Corinthians midfielder Paulinho with the players agent understood to be in England discussing a potential move to the Premier League and the final player the club have their eye on is Blackpool ace Tom Ince, with Levy hopeful of beating Liverpool to his signature in the coming weeks.
