Chelsea Make Contact With Man Utd Target Thiago Alcantara As Jose Eye Bargain Deal
Chelsea are ready to make an offer for Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara after making contact with the players agents about a potential move to London.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is considering making an offer for Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara after the Blues made contact with the players agent over a potential move to west London, according to ESPN.
Alcantara was the hero for Spain’s Under-21’s side this week as he bagged a superb hat-trick to seal a 4-2 win over Italy in the final of the European Championships.
It seems this performance has alerted Chelsea with ESPN claiming that the Blues are ready to go head-to-head with rivals Manchester United with new boss Mourinho ready to table an offer for the 22-year-old – who’s buy-out fee has dropped from €90 million (£77m) to just €18m (£15.4m) this summer due to a clause in his contract that stated he would be available at a cut-price if he didn’t play at least 30 minutes in 60% of Barcelona’s games last season.
The report also claims that while Chelsea have now made contact with Alcantara’s representatives over a potential move to Stamford Bridge, United remain the favourites to lure the talented playmaker to the Premier League with officials from the champions understood to be in regular contact with the players agents as well as Barcelona.
Speculation of a move to Old Trafford went into over-drive on Wednesday when it was revealed that United goalkeeper David De Gea had written the message ‘see you in Manchester‘ on the midfielder’s match ball after his treble in the final. Although Alcantara has played down the incident, ESPN claim United are ‘confident’ they will be able to win the race for his signature this summer despite interest from Chelsea.
