Chelsea Trump Rivals Again As Winger Atsu Jets In For Medical Ahead Of £3.5m Move
Chelsea are set to beat rivals Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of winger with Christian Atsu due in London to undergo a medical ahead of a £3.5m move.
As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea close in on yet another winger.
Chelsea are set to beat rivals Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of yet another winger with Christian Atsu due in London to undergo a medical ahead of a £3.5m move from Porto, according to the Mirror.
The Blues only recently trumped their Premier League rivals to the signing of Brazilian attacker Willian – who’s expected to be handed a work permit today ahead of a £32m move from Anzhi Makhachkala, and now Jose Mourinho is at it again as he closes in on the signing of Ghana winger, Atsu.
Liverpool and Tottenham have been strongly linked with the Porto youngster this summer but were unable to agree terms with the Portuguese outfit. He now looks set for a switch to west London with the Mirror claiming the attacker is due to fly in to London to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms after Chelsea agreed a £3.5m deal.
Atsu has just one year left to run on his current contract and there have been no signs of an extensions being signed, so it seems Porto have decided to cash in now rather than risk losing him for nothing next summer. The 21-year-old will become the seventh winger on the books at Stamford Bridge, joining Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, Andre Schurrle, Juan Mata, Victor Moses and Willian.
His signature will further increase speculation over the future of Mata, who was an unused substitute during the 0-0 draw at Manchester United on Sunday and reports claim he could be on the move before the window closes.
