Moyes Desperate To Beat Chelsea & Spurs To £25m-Rated Defender
Manchester United boss David Moyes is eyeing a January move for £25m-rated Southampton defender Luke Shaw but could face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham.
Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Man Utd are linked with a move for Chelsea and Spurs target Luke Shaw.
Manchester United boss David Moyes is eyeing a January move for £25m-rated Southampton defender Luke Shaw but could face competition from Chelsea and Tottenham, according to the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old has become one of the hottest properties in England after breaking into the Saints first team aged just 16 and he’s gone on to become a regular at the St Mary Stadium over the past 12 months as well as earn his first caps for the England Under-21’s squad.
His impressive form has seen him linked with some of the Premier League’s big-guns in recent months and the Daily Star claims that new United manager Moyes is desperate to see off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Spurs to land the highly-rated teenager when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Left-back appears to be an area of concern for Moyes with the Scot keen to find a long-term replacement for 32-year-old Patrice Evra, and the newspaper suggests he’s now turned his attention to Shaw after conceding defeat in his attempts to land Leighton Baines from former club Everton.
Southampton have slapped a hefty price-tag on the players head and he signed a new five-year contract earlier in the summer. But it seems that’s not going to deter the champions with the report claiming they will make their move in January in a bid to beat long-term admirers Chelsea and Spurs to the left-back’s signature.
