Chelsea & Man Utd On Alert As Disgruntled Midfielder Blasts Treatment In Spain
Chelsea and Manchester United have been put on red alert after German international midfielder Sami Khedira hit out at the way he’s being treated at Real Madrid
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Sami Khedira has blasted Real Madrid.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been put on red alert after German midfielder Sami Khedira hit out at the way he’s being treated at Real Madrid, according to the Daily Mail.
Madrid have endured a difficult start to life under new boss Carlo Ancelotti with the Spanish giants already trailing Barcelona and Atletico Madrid by five points in the La Liga table after just eight games, and the 26-year-old feels he’s being made a scapegoat since Jose Mourinho – the man who signed him – left in the summer.
Khedira also hinted that the fact he’s not Spanish and didn’t come with a large price-tag is also working against him and seeing his contributions go under-valued.
‘I’m not a Spanish player, I did not cost a lot of money and I am one of Mourinho’s disciples.
‘I started the season on the bench or in the stands. Even if I play well, I am the scapegoat and so will not be properly valued.’ Khedira is quoted as saying by the Mail
The Mail claim that champions Manchester United failed with a last minute bid to try and sign Khedira on transfer deadline day while Mourinho was also understood to be keen on bringing the German international with him to Stamford Bridge, and the players latest outburst will only fuel speculation that he could be sold when the window re-opens in January.
Khedira also reiterated his frustration at seeing compatriot Mesut Ozil sold to Arsenal and blasted his current team-mates for being too selfish.
‘A lot of players have lamented him leaving, including me. To lose a player with his qualities weakens the team, but we have other players of quality.’
‘We are not playing well. Most of the time we are over-complicating with too much individualism.
‘I don’t know if it is just a matter of time or if there is another problem but we are still not playing like a team.’ Khedira is quoted as saying by the Mail
Khedira has seen his first team place come under serious threat this season from big-money summer signing Asier Illaramendi and a rejuvenated Luka Modric, while Xabi Alonso is also nearing full fitness from a broken toe meaning first team football is going to be even harder to come by.
His comments are unlikely to have gone down too well at the Bernabeu and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was on the market this winter, with Chelsea and United likely to be keeping a close eye on his situation over the coming weeks.
