Chelsea Set To Move For Polish Hitman To Replace Valencia Target Demba Ba
Chelsea are set to make their move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski with Demba Ba lined up for a £7m move to Valencia, according to reports.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea will move for Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea are set to make their move for Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski with Demba Ba being lined up for a £7million move to Valencia, according to the Daily Mail.
The Polish hitman is in the final year of his contract and will be able to discuss a free transfer summer move to a foreign club in January, but it appears the Blues are ready to pay a premium to secure his signature this winter.
The 25-year-old has been hotly tipped to join Bayern Munich but the player insisted recently that no agreement has been reached with the European champions, so his signature is still very-much up for grabs.
The Mail claim Lewandowski’s agent’s have made it clear that the striker is keen on joining a Premier League club because Munich boss Pep Guardiola has reservations about signing the talented marksman.
The newspaper suggests that Demba Ba is being lined-up for a £7m move to Valencia in January and Jose Mourinho is ready to use that money to try and buy Lewandowski on the cheap. Dortmund are understood to be open to the idea of selling their star man abroad this winter rather than let him leave for free just a few months later, as they are determined not to see him end up at Bayern.
The Blues have lacked a real goal-threat up front with Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o only scoring one Premier League goal each so far this campaign, so the addition of Lewandowski would be a huge boost to their title ambitions this season.
Much could depend on Dortmund’s progression in the Champions League though, as the Germans are unlikely to sell if they make it through to the knockout stages which begin next February. They currently sit joint top along with Arsenal and Napoli in what’s going to be an extremely tight group to get out of.
