Chelsea Ready To Do Business With Barcelona For Out-Of-Favour Samba Star
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has finally lost his patience with David Luiz and is ready to sell him to Barcelona when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, could David Luiz be leaving Chelsea?
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has finally lost his patience with David Luiz and is ready to sell him to Barcelona when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to the Daily Mail.
Barcelona were strongly linked with a move for Luiz in the summer but Mourinho wanted to give all his players a chance to impress following his return to the club and the Mail claim the west Londoners turned down several bids from the Catalans, including a final £35m offer towards the end of the window.
However, the Brazilian defender has struggled to hold down a regular first team place this season and he was heavily criticised for his sloppy error against Cardiff last month and was singled out for his part in the Blues 2-0 loss to Newcastle last week.
The 26-year-old was subsequently left out against Schalke in the Champions League and was once again on the bench for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with West Brom as Mourinho went with Gary Cahill alongside John Terry at the back.
It seems his time at Stamford Bridge could be coming to an end with the newspaper claiming that Mourinho is now ready to cash in and has told Barca they are willing to do business this winter.
Luiz has become a real fan-favourite at the Bridge since joining from Benfica in 2011 but it appears his casual attitude on the pitch could see his time in London come to an abrupt end.
