Abramovich Set For Falcao Talks But Will He Meet €95m Asking Price?
Roman Abramovich is due to meet with Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev to discuss a potential deal for Radamel Falcao but will have to pay £80m to land the striker
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Radamel Falcao.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is due to meet with Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev to discuss a potential deal for Radamel Falcao, but the Ligue 1 outfit have slapped a €95m (£80m) asking price on the strikers head, according to the Express.
Falcao was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer before he sealed a £50m move to Monaco from Atletico Madrid, and it appears the Blues are ready to renew their interest.
The 27-year-old has continued his fine goal-scoring form in France, netting 9 in 13 games so far, but there have been rumours of discontent in the strikers camp with reports suggesting he’s fallen out with owners due to a row over his pay.
The Express claim that Chelsea boss Roman Abramovich is due to meet with Monaco owner Dmitri Rybolovlev to discuss a potential deal for the Colombian hitman, but he may not be pleased to hear what his fellow Russian billionaire has to say.
The newspaper suggests that while Rybolovlev accepts every player has his price – particularity with the FIFA Financial Fair Play Regulations set to kick in – he won’t do business for Falcao for anything less than €95m (£80m).
This is almost certainly going to put Chelsea off making any official move, however there could still be a way to reduce the fee with the report stating that Monaco would be prepared to negotiate a player-plus-cash deal involving either Fernando Torres or Demba Ba.
Both Torres and Ba have struggled for goals this season and Jose Mourinho may be willing to sacrifice one of them in order to get his hands on Falcao, but whether Abramovich is prepared to stump up the rest of the money it would take to sign him remains to be seen.
