With the January transfer window just around the corner managers will be starting to think about adding to their squad with new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea and Manchester United are inked with a move for Mosquito.
Manchester United will rival Chelsea for the signature of Brazil’s latest teen sensation, Mosquito, when the transfer window re-opens in January, according to the Mirror.
The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the most highly-rated young talents in his homeland after breaking in to the Atletico Paranaense first team set up, and his list of admirers grew following some impressive display’s at the recent Under-17 World Cup.
The Mirror claim that Chelsea have been scouting the forward for some time and are willing to meet the £4m valuation Paranaense are demanding for the players services, but they will now face competition from not only United but also the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus.
However, while the newspaper suggests that both David Moyes and Jose Mourinho will submit bids for Mosquito, they will be forced to wait until he turns 18 next month and any potential deal is being complicated by an ongoing dispute with his former club Vasco da Gama.
Furthermore, the youngster wouldn’t be able to get a UK work permit yet so would more than likely be sent out on loan for at least a season before he’ll be able to push for a first team berth if he does end up making a move to either Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford any time soon.
