Chelsea ‘Make Contact’ Over Availability Of €100m-Rated Hitman
Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Radamel Falcao after contacting Monaco to enquire about the players availability following reports he’s unsettled.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Radamel Falcao.
Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Radamel Falcao after contacting Monaco to enquire about the players availability following reports he’s unsettled in France, according to the Express.
Falcao was strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer before he sealed a £50million move to big-spending Monaco from Atletico Madrid after two prolific years at the Vicente Calderon.
The 27-year-old has continued his fine goal-scoring form in France, netting 9 in 13 games so far, but there have been rumours of discontent in the strikers camp with reports suggesting he’s fallen out with owners due to a row over his pay while he’s also believed to be at loggerheads with boss Claudio Ranieri.
The Express claims that Chelsea have now made contact with Monaco about the possibility of signing Falcao and are hopeful a deal can be done, despite Roman Abramovich being unwilling to meet the clubs €100m (£85m) asking price.
The good news is that the newspaper suggests the Ligue 1 outfit would be willing to take either Fernando Torres or Demba Ba in a player-plus-cash deal, while Russian owner Dmitry Rybolovlev may consider lowering his demands due to concerns over meeting FIFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.
It seems ridiculous that Monaco could command an extra £35m for a player that’s only played 13 games for the club in the poor French league, but it appears the Blues are serious about trying to bring Falcao to the Premier League either in January or next summer.
However, understandably they won’t be the only interested party with the report suggesting that Barcelona and Real Madrid are both keen on luring the Colombian hitman back to Spain.
