Chelsea Hope To Beat Rivals To Colombian Ace After Submitting £15m Offer
Chelsea are hoping to beat Man Utd, Liverpool and Spurs to the signing of Fredy Guarin after tabling an official offer worth £15m for the Inter Milan midfielder
With the January transfer window just around the corner, managers will be working hard to identify potential new signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Chelsea make a move for Fredy Guarin.
Chelsea are hoping to beat Man Utd, Liverpool and Tottenham to the signing of Fredy Guarin after tabling an official offer worth £15m for the Inter Milan midfielder, according to the Metro.
The Colombian has excelled in the Inter midfield over the last 18 months and it seems his impressive form has attracted interest from a number of Premier League clubs.
The Metro claims that Chelsea, United, Liverpool and Spurs have all been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, although Jose Mourinho and David Moyes are believed to hold the most serious interest.
The newspaper suggests that the Blues are hoping to beat their rivals to Guarin’s signature and have tabled a formal offer worth £10m up front and a further £5m in bonuses, with the Italians understood to be mulling over the bid.
Mourinho has remained coy over his January plans but it appears he sees midfield as an area of concern and Guarin’s powerful box-to-box style could see him viewed as a long-term replacement for Frank Lampard.
However, the report states that United aren’t ready to give up without a fight and have sent officials over to Milan to try and thrash out a deal, with Moyes understandably desperate to add to his squad this winter after a difficult start to life at Old Trafford.
Whether either club will be able to persuade Inter to cash-in on the South American remains to be seen, but it appears the player will have plenty of offers if he decides he’d like to try his luck in England.
