Inter Milan have confirmed they have held talks with Chelsea over the potential signing of Man Utd and Tottenham target Fredy Guarin, according to reports.
With the January transfer window now open for business clubs will be working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, more on the future of Fredy Guarin.
Inter Milan have confirmed they have held talks with Chelsea over the potential signing of Manchester United and Tottenham target Fredy Guarin, but insist they don’t want to sell the midfielder, according to the Express.
Guarin has excelled in the Inter midfield over the last 18 months and it seems his impressive form has attracted interest from a number of clubs here in the Premier League.
The powerful midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks while the Express claim that United and Spurs have also been keeping a close eye on the players situation in Italy.
However, while Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed that talks have taken place with Chelsea officials over Guarin’s future, they are confident he will remain at the San Siro.
“Guarin is an Inter player and we are happy to keep him,” Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio said.
“Denying the contacts with Chelsea would be denying the evidence. It is a source of pride to talk with them about one of our players, but everything stopped there.
“We are happy Guarin could stay with us for a long time. We don’t have the intention to sell him. He’s an important player.” Ausilio is quoted as saying by the Express
The 27-year-old has also been quoted as confirming his agent has spoken to Blues boss Jose Mourinho, and although the player insists he’s content at Inter he didn’t deny a move could happen in the future.
“I haven’t spoken to Mourinho. My agent has done that,” he said.
“I hope that Inter are thinking about how much I really want to stay here.
“There is something going on, I can definitely not deny that.
“But now I focus only on Inter and to do well here, we’ll see in the future.”
A move this month for the Colombian international appears unlikely but we’ll have to wait and see whether the likes of Chelsea, United and Tottenham renew their interest in the summer.
