Manchester United entertain Swansea City at Old Trafford on Saturday evening looking to close in on the top four.
It will be the second time these two sides have met in a week after the Swans knocked United out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 win last weekend.
That loss was followed-up by a 2-1 defeat to Sunderland in the first leg of their Capital One Cup semi final on Tuesday, which made it three defeats on the spin for the Red Devils after they lost against Spurs last time out in the league.
The defeat on New Year’s Day left the defending champions sitting sixth in the Premier League table so David Moyes will be desperate to get back to winning ways this weekend to ease the growing pressure on his shoulders.
Swansea’s win last weekend was their first in seven games so Michael Laudrup will hope his side have turned a corner with the historic victory at Old Trafford and will look to repeat the feat tomorrow evening.
The League Cup holders head into the game sitting 13th in the table but are just four points off the drop zone, so Laudrup will be keen to widen the gap to avoid getting dragged into the relegation dog-fight.
Team News
United will still be without Wayne Rooney after the striker was sent away for some warm-weather training to try and accelerate his recovery from a groin injury, although Moyes hopes to have him fit for the Chelsea match next week.
Fellow striker Robin van Persie is also still unavailable with the Dutchman still nursing a thigh injury that’s already kept him out for over a month, meaning Danny Welbeck will lead the attack.
Phil Jones and Rio Ferdinand are also injured while Jonny Evans was forced off against Sunderland in midweek with a back complaint, meaning Chris Smalling could partner Nemanja Vidic at the back.
Ashley Young, Nani and Marouane Fellaini remain sidelined through injury and Fabio is suspended having been sent off against Swansea last weekend.
Swansea have a growing injury list as they head to Old Trafford. Dwight Tiendalli and Jonathan de Guzman have joined the casualties after picking up calf and hamstring injuries last week.
The duo join Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez, Roland Lamah and Michu on the sidelines, meaning Laudrup has limited options in midfield and attack. Goalkeeper Michel Vorm is also out with a knee injury.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Adnan Januzaj: The youngster has been a rare shining light for United in recent weeks and we expect he’ll be the one Swansea will want to keep quiet this weekend.
Predicted Score
Man Utd 2-1 Swansea: The hosts may have lost three on the bounce but with the visitors depleted due to a severe injury list, we can see the champions returning to winning ways tomorrow.
