Hazard Denies Exit Rumours As Mourinho Insists Club Wont Sell
Eden Hazard has dismissed reports linking him with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain while Jose Mourinho insists the club have no interest in selling him
With the January transfer window now open for business clubs will be working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Eden Hazard and Jose Mourinho on reports linking the attacker with a move.
Eden Hazard has dismissed reports linking him with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain while Jose Mourinho insists the club have no interest in selling him in any case, according to ESPN.
Newspapers in Friday morning’s French media suggested that Hazard was set for a big-money move to PSG after printing quotes claiming that the player has already told team-mates he would ‘certainly be joining Paris next summer’.
The 23-year-old Belgian international started for Chelsea today against Hull City and opened the scoring with a stunning strike as the Blues climbed to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory at the KC Stadium.
When quizzed about the reports after the game, Hazard dismissed the rumours by insisting he’s enjoying his time at Stamford Bridge and see’s himself staying at the club for a ‘long time’.
The former Lille ace also revealed that boss Jose Mourinho has asked him to work harder in training and he feels he’s now giving his best for the team.
“I tried to give my best for the team and get the three points,”
“Jose told me to work harder in training. I am 23, I’m old, I understand things in football now and in training I’ve been giving my best.
“I’m enjoying it here, I like this club and will keep going for a long time. We will see after February and March where we are, we are a young team.” Hazard is quoted as saying by ESPN.
If you hadn’t seen them yesterday, the quotes attributed to Hazard were flimsy at best and the ‘source’ wasn’t even named, so the story was a non-starter from the off if you ask me.
However, Jose Mourinho was forced to play down the speculation at his press conference on Friday and he reiterated his desire to keep hold of the Belgian after today’s win over Hull, telling reporters that he is now one of the best performers in the Premier League:
“The club doesn’t want to sell him,”
“Obviously the manager has that decision. Every manager wants players like him. I cannot put too much pressure on him to be man of the match every game or be the guy who opens the scoring.
“What I expect is this motivation and responsibility he is showing every week. Last year you saw a talented Hazard, this year a much more mature player. He deserves more than man of the match, probably player of the month. Not many are doing what he is doing.” Mourinho is quoted as saying by ESPN.
Hazard has certainly stepped up his performances this season. You could see he was talented during his debut year in the Premier League following his move from Lille in 2012, but at times he’d drift in and out of games and made poor decisions with his final ball at times.

But this season he’s the focal point of Chelsea’s attacking play and has already scored 11 goals in all competitions, which is just 2 shy of what he managed in the whole of last season, so it’s no surprise Jose is keen to keep hold of him.
