Chelsea + Man Utd Blow As £20m Attacker Has ‘Heart Set’ On Anfield Move
Southampton’s £20m-rated attacker Adam Lallana is ready to snub interest from Chelsea and Man Utd because he has his heart set on a switch to Liverpool.
As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are favourites to land Adam Lallana.
Southampton’s £20m-rated attacker Adam Lallana is ready to snub interest from Chelsea and Manchester United because he has his heart set on a switch to Liverpool, according to the Mirror.
Lallana has risen through the Southampton youth team set-up since joining the club as a child and has become a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s side with his 9 goals helping the South Coast club secure a top eight finish this season.
The 25-year-old is widely expected to be named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for this summers World Cup finals in Brazil, but his impressive displays have also caught the eye of several top Premier League clubs with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd among those understood to be interested.
However, it seems Lallana has already made up his mind where he wants to be playing his football next season with the Mirror claiming he will reject the advances of Chelsea and United as he has his ‘heart set’ on a move to Anfield.
The newspaper suggests that the Merseysiders are confident they can land the attacking midfielder for £20m as Saints owner Katharina Liebherr will find it difficult to turn down such a bid given the clubs financial situation, and Brendan Rodgers is ready to double the players current £35,000-a-week wages.
Liverpool’s title hopes were rocked by a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Sunday but they have already secured Champions League football for next season and Rodgers is expected to be busy in the transfer market this summer building a squad capable of competing in Europe’s elite competition.
There’s little doubt Lallana would be a superb addition if the Reds could pull this off and he’d add to their already fearsome attack alongside the likes of Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez.
We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming weeks but I’m sure the player, and the clubs involved, would prefer any potential deal to be tied up before before the World Cup kicks off in mid-June.
