Midfield Target Drops Major Hint He’s Ready To Snub Big-Money Move
Adam Lallana has dropped a huge hint that he’s ready to snub interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd this summer to remain with Southampton
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Adam Lallana hints at staying at Southampton.
Adam Lallana has dropped a huge hint that he’s ready to snub interest from the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United to remain with Southampton this summer , according to reports today.
Lallana has been with Southampton since he was 12 years old and came through the youth team set-up before making his first team debut back in 2006. He’s since gone on to become an established first team player and has played a key role in Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season, scoring 9 goals to help the South Coast club secure a top eight finish.
His impressive performances have not only caught the eye of England boss Roy Hodgson – with the midfielder expected to be on the plane to Brazil this summer – but he’s also attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd among those understood to be interested in luring him away from St Marys.
However, Lallana has now dropped the biggest hint yet that he’s ready to snub a big-money move away to stay with his boyhood team, after saying he wants to continue to progress at the club.
Speaking after being named as Southampton’s Player of the Year last night, Lallana said:
“The club means the world to me.
“I’ve been here since I was 12 and I want to keep progressing with the club.
“I’ve got a great relationship with the fans. We’ve been on a journey, and this is the icing on the cake.” Lallana is quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Lallana has been one of the revelations of the season and was rightfully named int he PFA Team of the Year, so it’s only natural that he’s attracting interest form some of the top clubs.
However, despite his affiliation with the club, I still think he’d find it extremely difficult to turn down a move should the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea or United come calling. He’s been at Southampton his entire professional career and at some stage he needs to take the next step and test himself at the highest level, and he might not get a better chance than this summer.
Southampton may not get a better chance either to cash in, as his value is going to be high after the season’s he’s had, so it might be in the best interest of all parties if he moves on at the end of the season.
