Chelsea Ready To Battle Man Utd For £25m Super-Star Midfielder
Chelsea have joined Premier League rivals Manchester United in the chase for Bayern Munich contract rebel Toni Kroos, according to reports in the media.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Toni Kroos.
Chelsea have joined Premier League rivals Manchester United in the chase for Bayern Munich contract rebel Toni Kroos, according to reports.
The German international’s future has been speculated over in recent months as he’s about to enter the final year of his deal at the Allianz Arena and so far no agreement has been reached over an extension.
The uncertainty over his long-term future at Bayern has alerted a number of clubs with Manchester United among those strongly linked over the past few weeks – although is remains to be seen whether he’s a key target for new boss Louis van Gaal.
The Metro are now claiming that Chelsea are also ready to throw their hat into the ring with the Blues understood to be prepared to meet the 24-year-old’s £150,000-a-week wage demands.
A creative midfielder hasn’t been touted as a priority for Jose Mourinho so far this summer but the newspaper suggests that the Blues boss is now contemplating replacing Oscar after ‘losing faith’ with the Brazilian during the closing stages of the season, and Kroos is apparently being lined-up as a potential replacement.
While I’d be surprised to see Oscar sold this summer, if there’s one man who’d do it, it would be Mourinho. He’s shown his ruthless streak by selling Juan Mata and David Luiz in the last 6 months, so you never know, the Brazilian playmaker could be next out the door.
If Oscar does leave Stamford Bridge, Kroos would be a superb replacement and it’s going to be interesting to see what happens with the midfielder this summer.
Although Kroos has hinted he wants to stay at Bayern and see out the remaining year of his contract, the Metro claim the German champions aren’t prepared to lose him for nothing next summer, so unless the player is ready to lower his wage demands, he could be sold if an offer for around £25m comes in.

That kind of money would represent a bargain for a player of his quality and experience, and if he is made available, I’d be surprised if there aren’t many more clubs joining Chelsea and Man Utd in the race for his signature.
