Chelsea Offer Man Utd Target Bumper €8m-A-Year Deal Ahead Of Proposed €19m Move
Chelsea have moved ahead of Man Utd into pole position to sign Toni Kroos after offering the Bayern Munich midfielder a bumper contract worth €8m-per-season
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea move for Toni Kroos.
Chelsea have moved ahead of Manchester United and Real Madrid into pole position to sign Toni Kroos after offering the Bayern Munich midfielder a bumper contract worth €8m-per-season, according to reports today.
Kroos’s future at the Allianz Arena has been thrown into doubt after talks over a new deal stalled. The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his current contract and with Bayern refusing to meet the midfielders wage demands, he’s been tipped to move on this summer.
Chelsea and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the German international in recent weeks, while European champions Real Madrid are also understood to be keen on luring the player to Spain.
However, it appears Chelsea are now leading the chase with the Metro citing reports coming out of Spain that claim the Blues have offered the player a whopping five-year contract worth around €8m per season to make the move to Stamford Bridge.
The deal – which works out at around €156,000-a-week – satisfies Kroos’ desire for a significant pay rise so the newspaper suggests that Jose Mourinho is confident he can lure him to west London if they can agree a fee with Bayern.
The German giants have previously hinted they might be willing to force Kroos to see out the final year of his contract but it’s understood Chelsea are ready to tempt them into cashing-in with a bid of around €19m.
Whether that will be enough to persuade the Bundesliga champions to sell remains to be seen but it will be interesting to see how the likes of United and Madrid respond to Chelsea’s generous contract offer.
New United boss Louis van Gaal is expected to be busy in the transfer market as he tries to rebuild a squad that finished seventh last year, but with the club on the verge of sealing a big-money move for Ander Herrera, their interest in Kroos could subside leaving Chelsea free to battle it out with Madrid.

Should the Blues win the race and sign Kroos, it will be intriguing to see how Mourinho lines-up next season as he would have an abundance of midfield and attacking talent available to him. With Cesc Fabregas already signed this summer, the pair would be battling it out with the likes of Oscar, Eden Hazard, Nemanja Matic, Ramires, Willian, Andre Schurrle and Mohamed Salah in the starting eleven next season.
