Chelsea Transfer News: Contract Offer Made As Mourinho Eyes Double Swoop
Chelsea have made an offer to Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and are also interested in Charlton’s Diego Poyet as boss Jose Mourinho eyes a double swoop
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with a double swoop.
Chelsea have made an offer to Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos and are also interested in Charlton youngster Diego Poyet as boss Jose Mourinho eyes a double swoop this summer, according to reports.
Speculation has intensified in recent weeks suggesting that German international Kroos could be on his way out of Bayern Munich after rejecting their final contract offer. The 24-year-old has just one year remaining on his current deal and with no agreement over an extension in sight, his potential availability has alerted a number of top European clubs.
As well as the likes of Man Utd and Real Madrid, Chelsea have also been strongly linked with a move for the midfielder and the Daily Star claim that the Blues have now put forward a mammoth £6.4m per season deal which would see the player pocket around £125k-a-week.
Bayern have hinted they may be willing to hold Kroos to the final year of his deal but the newspaper report suggests that Chelsea could land the highly-rated midfielder for as little as £15m – which would be an absolute bargain for a player of his quality in today’s market.
It remains to be seen how this will all play out as understandably Chelsea aren’t the only club in the running, but it would be a sensational coup if Jose Mourinho was able to lure the German to Stamford Bridge this summer. Although it will be interesting to see how he manages to fit him in to his starting eleven next season as the Portuguese coach already has an abundance of midfield talent available to him.
However, despite this, it appears Mourinho is eyeing yet another midfielder with the Star claiming that he also wants to sign Charlton youngster Diego Costa, who is out of contract at The Valley and has refused to sign a new deal.
The 19-year-old came through Charlton’s youth academy and burst on to the scene during the second half of last season, and was so impressive that he was named as the clubs player of the season by supporters despite making just 23 appearances.
Poyet – the son of former Chelsea ace Gus – is now thought to be eyeing a move to the Premier League and Mourinho is ready to offer him a chance in west London, but it seems the Blues will face competition from Manchester City for his signature.

Obviously Poyet will be viewed as one for the future as he has little chance of breaking into the Chelsea first team any time soon given the world class talent he’d be up against, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the lack of first team opportunities led to the youngster opting again a move to the Bridge.
