Santi Cazorla is set to make his long-awaited comeback from injury with the Spaniard expected to be one of three first team players who start for the Arsenal under-21’s this evening.

Cazorla has been on the sidelines since suffering knee ligament damage against Norwich City way back in November and a proposed comeback was delayed when he aggravated an Achilles problem in training.

Santi stepped-up his comeback after returning to full training last month and was named as an unused substitute for Saturday’s Premier League victory over Norwich City at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger hinted at the weekend that Cazorla may get a run-out for the youth side in their play off fixture against Blackburn Rovers tonight and the club have now confirmed on Arsenal.com that the midfielder will in fact start for Steve Gating’s side.

If Cazorla comes through the game unscathed, then he should be in contention for a starting berth when the first team head to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon to take on Manchester City.

Cazorla will be joined in playing for the under-21’s tonight by Tomas Rosicky as he continues to work on his match fitness following a serious knee and thigh injuries which have kept him for practically the entire campaign.

Young defender Calum Chambers will also feature after struggling for game-time with the first team recently while Serge Gnabry will once again turn out for the development side.
