Arsenal
My Favourite 4: Games Of The Season
With the season now over, I am starting a feature for this summer, ‘My Favourite′ and here are my favourite games of this season:
Arsenal 4-4 Newcastle United
I would like to ask: who has a 4 goal lead at half time, and then lets it slip and concede 4 goals? I personally don’t have a clue. Arsenal were cruising in the first half, knocking in goals aplenty and it all seemed done and dusted.
But Alan Padrew really must have kicked some s*** into that Newcastle team and suddenly they just woke up from slumber. Much has to be said of the poor refereeing in this game, but coming back from 4 goals down is a remarkable feat.
Furthermore, it had a great finish to the game, remember that absolutely phenomenal Tiote leveler near stoppage time to earn Newcastle United the point? Personally, it even felt as though Newcastle could have taken all 3 points in the end!
Wigan 3-2 West Ham
Labelled as the ’180 million pound’ match. And it certainly didn’t disappoint as both sides went out there as if they were fighting as if their life depended on it. Another one of those great comebacks this season on the part of Wigan.
They were 2-0 down at one point, but they came back and they managed to grab 3 and they managed to give themselves one more week to fight for their status as a Premier League club. And the calamitous mistake by West Ham goalkeeper Robert Green ensured that West Ham were going to be a Championship club next season.
Manchester United 2-1 Manchester City
I’m a Liverpool fan, so picking a Manchester United victory already says it all. I was going to pick either this or Manchester United’s win against Liverpool at OT, but I ended up picking this simply because of Wayne Rooney’s incredible winner.
What a way to win a derby, what a way to prove that you are on form despite all those critics throwing criticism at you. It was the perfect winner (well, although the cross was kinda deflected) and this one was a great derby to watch.
Liverpool 5-0 Birmingham City
I know you guys saw this coming, but being a Liverpool fan, I had to pick this as among my favourite games. I think that Manchester City was the best ‘team performance’ but this was a very entertaining game for me to watch, as Liverpool were in top gear throughout.
